You can decide whether your product should be listed in your elopage shop and indexed by the search engines or not.
If you do not want that, because your customers should only get to your product via a link provided by you (by email or via your landing page), you can set your individual product to "private."
If none of your pages and your entire shop are not to be listed, you can set them in general. A separate setting for the product is then not necessary.
Important: If you have already published your product without setting it private, it is likely that various search engines are already displaying this page. If you set the setting "private," you will see this in your shop immediately. However, it takes a few weeks for the search engines to remove this page from the search index.
Make the setting
You can find this setting on the product when you edit it in step "Advanced" and then "Recommended settings."
Use cases
- Well, you can use it initially if the product is still being built and you want to see it for yourself from the customer's point of view or make a test purchase, for example to see the purchase process. If you lower the product price for your test purchase, then nobody should buy it for the price that your product was found at, for example via Google search.
- You can use it when you build your product overviews on your homepage and want to link directly to the purchase page, for example, and not just on your elopage shop with the selection of products.
- Or maybe you would like to offer a product only to a certain group of people whom you will inform about your product by email. It also makes sense then if the customers who call up your elopage shop cannot see this product.
How do you quickly see which products you have marked as private?
- Go to products.
All products that are marked private have an "agent symbol" above the product image if the product has the setting "private."
