Creating an eTicket for an online event

Would you like to sell tickets for your online event, e.g. a webinar, virtual meeting or advice via video call with a selectable date? This is also possible with the eTicket.

The difference between eTickets for online and face-to-face events lies, among other things, in the tax calculation.

While the tax of the event location is calculated for face-to-face events (i.e. the tax of the location that you provide in the ticket), the same applies to online events as to online courses or digital products: the tax of the buyer country is calculated.

Special settings for eTickets for online events

You create the eTicket essentially like the eTicket for face-to-face events, with at least two differences:

1. Venue

In step 2 "Tickets," click on "Online Event" for the venue.

The ticket is already stored as an online event. Instead of the location and the short name, "Webinar" is now displayed on the ticket.

2. Purchase confirmation e-mail or thank you page

If you already know the link for the webinar room or would like to enter more information, such as

  • how long before log-in
  • technical requirements etc.
  • link to form with questionnaire (e.g. from Typeform)

You should use the custom purchase confirmation e-mail and enter additional information about the webinar and the link to the webinar room there.

For chargeable events this e-mail should have the parameter %{next_button} included. This brings the customer to the elopage thank you page with the ticket and, more importantly, the invoice via the "CONTINUE" button.

Tip:

If you offer video advice on fixed dates, e.g. via Skype, Zoom, Hangout, etc., you can also use the eTicket for this. Provide the free dates and times and set the sales limit to 1 if it is a 1:1-consultation.
