In this help article, you will learn how to

  • configure the header according to your wishes
  • create menu items in the header and link them to the respective target
  • make social media icons visible in the header and link them

 Overview of this article

Header usage options

You have the option to show or hide the header of your shop theme. Usually you will show it so that your customers can look around your pages and quickly find their way around. In special cases it can also be useful to hide the header, for example if you are using a shop theme as a landing page. You can find a separate help article for this.

If you use the head area of the shop theme, you can create several menu items that either lead your customers to the pages of the shop theme you have created or direct them to external pages.

   Step-by-step instructions

Hiding the header area

If you do not want to display a header area, check the “Hide” box on the right.

Please note, however, that your customers can then only move on the page that you are currently offering them. We only recommend this for landing pages.

Configuring the header area

To edit the header area, click on the "pencil" on the right.

You will then see the configuration area with various settings for images, links and fonts.

The logo should be a maximum of 50 pixels high

Here you can now design the entire header area according to your wishes.

Creating and linking menu items

When creating a shop theme, only sample menu items are initially created that are not yet linked. You can freely choose the name of the menu items as well as the links.

Example 1

You have created an “About Me” page and want to create a menu item that leads to this page. You can find additional help articles for creating and designing shop pages. We concentrate here on the menu in the header and the appropriate link.

  • First copy the URL of the relevant page (1) to your PC's clipboard.
  • Then click on the pencil (2) to access the editing view of the header area.

Next, you are taken to the editing view for the header.

  • With a click on the "three dots" on the right (1) and then on the "pencil", an input screen opens under the menu item “Link #2.”
  • Now fill in the two fields of the input screen (2). Enter the desired name of the menu item in the left field of the input screen, in our example “About Me.” Copy the link from your clipboard into the input field on the right.
  • Confirm your entries by clicking on “Save” (3).
  • Always remember to save all changes at the end by clicking on “Save” at the bottom right (4).

Example 2

You want to create a menu item that leads your customers to an external page, for example to the elopage Facebook community.

  • First copy the URL of the external page to your PC's clipboard
  • Then click on the pencil to access the editing view of the header area

Next, you are taken to the editing view for the header.

  • With a click on the "three dots" on the right (1) and then on the "pencil", an input screen opens under the menu item “Link #3.”
  • Now fill in the two fields of the input screen (2). Enter the desired name of the menu item in the left field of the input screen, in our example “Community.” Copy the link to the Facebook community from your clipboard into the input field on the right.
  • Confirm your entries by clicking on “Save” (3).
  • Always remember to save all changes at the end by clicking on “Save” at the bottom right (4).

You can link to any URL using this procedure. Make sure to enter the URL in question completely and correctly.

By default, the shop and membership header will also link to the "cancel subscription" option for your customers. If you do not offer subscriptions and sell in your own name, you can deactivate this link on your own responsibility when editing the header.

Making social media icons visible in the header area and linking them

You can use various social media icons in the header of the shop theme and link them to your own pages on Facebook, Instagram, etc.

  • Then click on the "pencil" to access the editing view of the header area.
  • Set the slider for “Website and other platforms” to green and enter the full URLs of your website and your social media pages in the respective input fields.
  • Choose a color in which the icons in the header should be displayed.
  • Confirm your entries by clicking on “Save” at the bottom right.

The corresponding social media icons are then displayed in the header. With a click on the respective icon your customers get to the corresponding pages. Of course, only those icons are displayed in the header for which you have entered a URL.
