When does PayPal keep payments?

If a customer pays with PayPal, PayPal may not provide you with this amount immediately, but only after 21 days. This is mainly done with new PayPal accounts, but can also happen with existing customers.

As a default, we only deliver the purchase confirmation email when we receive a message from PayPal that the payment was successful, i.e. that the amount is available to you.

If you would like the delivery to take place immediately after your customer has paid, you can set this in the pricing plan.

If your >>PayPal Business Account is newer than 21 days, we recommend that you first deactivate PayPal as a payment method for your digital products. Because the >>custom purchase confirmation email, which delivers your service for the digital product (e.g. a link to book an appointment), is only sent once PayPal has verified the payment. Your customers will not receive the purchase confirmation email until PayPal has verified the payment. When opening a new PayPal business account, this can take up to 21 days.

Defining the setting

  • under "templates" and "pricing plans"
  • for the product in the "checkout page" and
  • for the upsell pages of your funnel.

To change the setting:

  • Go to the edit mode of your pricing plan, e.g. under templates / pricing plans.


Good to know: If you change the pricing plan, it applies to all products for which you have saved it.

  • Set the switcher "Instant access to PayPal" to the right to activate this. The switcher only appears if you have also saved PayPal as a payment method in the pricing plan.


  • Save the pricing plan.

Important: If you go via the "product" and then the "upsell" page in the funnel to change, do not forget to save the change in the "product" on the "upsell" page too. The change is then active for all new purchases.

The invoice will still only be issued after payment has been received. Your customer will not find it immediately on the elopage thank you page, but only after receipt of payment.
